Due to the ongoing floods, we are experiencing stock delays as many turf farms have been underwater.
As a result, all turf orders will go on a waitlist until our farms bounce back. We appreciate your patience!

Sapphire Buffalo Grass

$15.00 per m2

Sapphire Buffalo grass is a heavy-duty species that is quick to recover from damage due to its deep roots. This type of Buffalo grass has a high resistance to both the sun and shade, making it a great selection for those yards that have both. Sapphire Buffalo grass has a finer texture than other types of buffalo grass, but is still thick and carpet-like. Sapphire Buffalo Grass also requires less water than other types of buffalo varieties and still remains green in the cooler months. (minimum total order quantity of 30 m2)

Sapphire® Soft Leaf Buffalo delivers solid performance with the added benefit of fine texture. This type of Buffalo Grass has a folding leaf that creates an unbeatably soft lawn.

Due to its high performance and fast stolon/runner growth, Sapphire® is hard-wearing with a quick recovery rate making it an ideal choice for active families and households with large dogs.

Sapphire® is also ideal for those wanting a low maintenance lawn that requires less mowing than other types of Buffalo Grass.

Because of its deep root system, Sapphire® has excellent cold tolerance – it has a brilliant winter colour in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide. Even in colder climates like Canberra, Sapphire® will hold its winter colour longer than most varieties.

With its deep root system, Sapphire® is an efficient water user and drought tolerant.

  • Cut to 2cm-5cm in sun or light shade, or 5cm-7cm in heavier shade
  • Mow every 5-10 days in warmer months, and every 3-6 weeks in colder months
  • Fertiliser is recommended twice a year: once in early April and once in September

Sapphire® Soft Leaf Buffalo is drought tolerant once established – but, like all plants, needs water. Requirements will vary depending on environmental factors. Be aware of a drying climate and water your lawn accordingly.

Remember, infrequent deep watering of your lawn promotes a healthy lawn and a strong deep-rooted system. Watering time is best in the early morning.
